Recently I went visit my parents in San Diego and then a few days later went to New York. When I’m on vacation I really like to enjoy the people, place, and food where I stay. I love relaxing and giving my body a break because we need to have a recovery period. Even though I may not be working out every day like I normally would, I still fit in a few workout sessions here and there. I just feel better afterwards and don’t want to forget that feeling. But, when I’m not doing my everyday workouts I sometimes struggle with getting back at it post vacation.
It took some time to mentally get myself motivated to workout again after vacations. The way I did it was forcing myself to go. Even if I really didn’t want to, once I started I didn’t want to waste a workout. Post vacation gym time is crucial in my eyes to staying on that healthy pathway. I try to keep in mind that I have goals and that keeps me motivated to jump right into some physical activity. Now, once I’m back home I always get right back into training. This way I stay consistent and don’t think twice about not going.
Don’t over do it the first day back because of how bad you ate and little to no exercise you did. You’ll put too much pressure on yourself and then won’t end up going for a while. Healthy habits take at least three weeks to form. However, you do need to get right back at it as soon as you get home and you’re in your daily routine. It’ll only get harder the more time you wait to exercise. All you need to do is carve out 30 minutes in the day to get started. Trust me it does help especially when you want to be healthy. It’ll set the tone that you’re going to exercise on a regular basis again. xoxo
